2 Peter 3:18, says that we are commanded to “grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Saviour, Jesus Christ.” This growth is spiritual growth, growing in faith.
At the moment we receive Christ as our Saviour, we are born again spiritually into God’s family. But just as a newborn baby requires nourishing milk for growth and good development, so also a baby Christian requires spiritual food for growth. 1 Peter 2:2-3 says, “you’ve had a taste of God. Now like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God. Milk is used in the New Testament as a symbol of what is basic to the Christian life.
At St Thomas’, we have a burning desire for people to grow in faith and to know what it is to live a life in Christ.
